5 Frame Honeybee Nucleus Colony

Nucleus hives, commonly referred to as “Nucs,” serve as an excellent option for novice apiarists and for mitigating the impact of winter bee colony losses. Our 5 frame (deep) bee colonies are pre-equipped with established frames containing beeswax and a new 2025 queen. VP VSH Carniolan (Spartan) queens are framed on the Carniolan phenotype. They build up more slowly then VP VSH Italian, but produce enormous brood nests and worker populations in time for the honey flow. They slow up if the nectar/pollen availability lessens and they make a conservative Fall brood nest. Good VSH Expression.Each Nuc comprises five frames filled with honeycomb containing brood, pollen, honey, and bees. These Nucs are intended for scheduled pick up, subsequent transfer into the beekeeper’s own hive, and are poised for rapid expansion in colony size during the spring season. Hence, they present an optimal selection for both new beekeepers and those seeking to expand their apiary.
