Hands on the Hive
Beekeeping for your residential backyard or business: Experience the joys of having a backyard hive without the hassle or time investment. Learn what is involved in maintaining a honeybee colony. This is a great opportunity to learn about the fascinating world of bees and the important role they play in our ecosystem. Whether you’re interested in beekeeping as a hobby or for its potential business benefits, understanding the processes involved will help you make informed decisions and ensure the well-being of the bees.

By hosting one of our hives, you can help support and strengthen local honey bee populations. In return, these bees will assist in pollinating your plants, trees, and shrubs, while also producing delicious raw honey. The unique and diverse floral sources available within the state contribute to the exceptional taste of local honey.
Placing the Bee Hive
Arrange for an assessment of your property to evaluate its suitability for hosting a hive. Our experts will assist in selecting an optimal location that ensures safety for both you and the bees. The hives themselves will take up roughly 2×2 feet each, and it is best to give the bees a 10-foot “runway” in front of the hives to reach a cruising altitude above people’s heads. If you don’t quite have that space, there are ways to reduce the needed space in front of the hive. We kindly request that you refrain from using pesticides or herbicides in the vicinity of the hive.
Hive Installation & Maintenance
We provide all the necessary bee equipment already filled with an established colony of honeybees. Our beekeepers conduct routine checks on the hives and report on their behavior and health. They will put together action plans to help keep your beehive thriving. Additionally, if you’re interested, you’re welcome to join us and gain hands-on experience with the bees! Protective gear can be provided.
The Sweet Reward
Raw honey is one of the best benefits of hosting a beehive. All you need to do is provide a bee-safe location free of pesticides, and we will take care of providing the bees and everything they need. The bees and equipment remain ours, but in return, you will benefit from pollination without the hassle of managing a hive full of bees. Once the colony produces more honey than the bees need, we will extract the extra honey and share 10 pounds with you!

Installation and Maintenance of One Beehive on Our PropertyWe are truly grateful for the support we’ve received over the years. After engaging in this endeavor for an extended period, we’ve come to appreciate the considerable expenses involved in running a responsible full-service urban hive hosting program. Our dedicated beekeepers invest an average of 35 hours per year in traveling to and from and managing each host yard, in addition to providing offsite support, preparation work, and covering the various costs associated with maintaining the bee colonies. Your ongoing support and understanding mean a lot to us.
